Episode 8
RAGEFEST
Grab a Red Bull and sit down for a rage-filled episode of the PC Gamer Fan Podcast. This week we release some nerd-rage concerning inadequate game boxes, take a low-blow at gaming in the Olympics, and debate the topic of cheating in games. We discuss Vagabond’s bitchin’ new gaming rig, and also have a chat with Mark “ByTor7″ Riccini, reigning heavy champ on the PC Gamer Team Fortress 2 server as well as playlists. This episode is BRUTAL.

and for my last thing, I got my Warhammer 40k issue today, where they say the collectors edition for Warhammer Online will be, “A seven-pound collectors edition that will come packed with a 128-page hardcover graphic novel, a 224-page art book, and exclusive warhammer miniature, a special buff item in-game, 12 extra quests in-game, and 12 extra character heads in-game”. I see a rock band priced thing right there…

I heard that game developers included a lot more things in the 80′s and 90′s was because they couldn’t justify selling a game for $50 without including other stuff (rings, shirts, and good manuals). But, now they can’t include other stuff without calling it collector’s edition and putting a higher price. because the price of games now, include the voice actors, artists, and many more people working in the gaming industry.

I don’t buy the increased overhead cost = no money for extras argument. especially from giant companies like EA and Ubisoft. Sure, if Jack P. Normal makes a game singlehandedly in his roommate’s garage, he’s probably not gonna have a ton of cash leftover to include extras with his game. But for the mega publishers? Gimme a break- those guys bath in crisp filthy $100 bills. They’re saying they can afford to rent Lando Calrissian, Athena, and Bulldog but they can’t pony up to include a decent fucking manual and a one-sided unit-sheet? My ass.
