I would do a podcast, but I’m busy running around outside stealing eggs from small children.
March 23, 2008 at 11:29 am
lol, that’s kinda cruel isn’t it?
March 23, 2008 at 2:50 pm
but It will be back next week and better than ever…heh.
March 23, 2008 at 3:16 pm
Jesus hates the podcast.
March 24, 2008 at 9:53 am
best one yet!
March 24, 2008 at 12:09 pm
Frost: on the subject of less people listening, maybe its because Andy plugged the filefront, not the website.
March 25, 2008 at 11:52 am
Um, on that note: who’s gonna host the show next week? And why did I feel the need to write “on that note?” Sadly, we may never know…
March 25, 2008 at 2:19 pm
Oh: and I’m pretty sure Easter is the resurrection of Jesus. The death of Jesus is commonly known as reality TV and anything related to console games. Or maybe that was just the death of me…
March 25, 2008 at 7:34 pm
No, that was the death of Jesus, Havoc.
March 25, 2008 at 8:49 pm
Very off topic note, but: We miss you at the game nights, Havoc! seems like you never swing by anymore! *tear*
March 26, 2008 at 6:20 am
I always do my best to make it on Fridays for a few hours, but Tuesday is pretty much impossible. Right now I’m juggling a 2-year-old, a fairly long work week, and some editing on my second book. I don’t get much free time, and when do, I have to rotate my PC games accordingly. Believe me, I wish I could play more as well. Still, I’ll be there Fridays, even if it’s only for an hour or so. Working sucks man. Blah.
March 26, 2008 at 12:56 pm
Oh no worries Havoc, I didn’t mean to come off as ragging on you for not being there – by ALL means, real life obligations should always come before gaming. Hell I’ve missed more then my fair share of game nights due to real-life, and I organize the damn things
Still though, you are missed! Hope to see you for a bit this Friday.
March 26, 2008 at 3:02 pm
Also you can look forward to me being on the next podcast.
March 26, 2008 at 4:18 pm
Havoc,
You’ve probably already said this, but what are your books and is your first one avaliable for purchase?
March 26, 2008 at 4:42 pm
Hope Havoc doesn’t mind me answering for him, but I believe his books are currently in ‘publishing limbo’ as he explained to us. But when (I know they will be sooner or later
) they get published, I will buy both, simply because he’s a great guy.
March 26, 2008 at 5:35 pm
Ha, thanks Frost. I appreciate the support. Yeah, unfortunately, “The Gaia Initiative” and “From a Darkness, Rising” are currently sitting on a handful of publishers’ desks collecting mildew. I wasn’t able to grab a literary agent, mostly because they’re all vile, evil, elitist, pretentious scumbags (errr, present literary agent listeners excluded, of course). Not having a literary agent makes things… basically impossible. Actual publishers only review the first 50 pages of potential manuscripts once or twice a year, so I have to wait. And wait. And wait. And then collect even more rejection letters. And then do it all over.
If you guys REALLY want to see how much I suck at writing, I can post the first book online and some of the second (Darkness still needs further revision, although I must admit it’s a far superior novel to Gaia). I have to warn you though: Gaia is a book many people will despise. It’s kinda the opposite of “An Inconvenient Truth,” so head’s up if your political leanings get offended easily. Darkness, on the other hand, is a far more accessible gamer-friendly novel. Boy I wish I’d written that one first. Oh well: it’s only my soul being crushed. Cheers!
March 26, 2008 at 6:27 pm
I am also a writter of sorts, never gone so far as to try to get any of them published (mostly because they are about games I don’t have the rights to write about) but I will post a word doc file on my blog (http://avenge1337.blogspot.com) or some where. I am currently working on a new book which I think is better than the last few. I’ll keep those of you who care to read any of them updated.

Here’s the first novel:

Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
March 26, 2008 at 7:47 pm
Only read the first couple pages so far, but so far I’m liking it. It’ll be a bit since I’ve read the whole thing since I have a lot of stuff I have to finish up on, but I’ll try and give you some constructive criticism if I have any.
March 26, 2008 at 8:33 pm
Please please please realize that no matter how many times a given author edits and revises his or her work, you, as the “beta” reader WILL find spelling and grammar errors. It’s a law of creative writing: for each error a novelist corrects, two more equal errors will populate themselves inside the manuscript elsewhere proportionately. So, basically, sorry for that ahead of time. And goddammit, why can’t I git rid of all those hideous adverbs? Arggggghhhh!!!!!
March 27, 2008 at 11:12 am
Havoc: just calm down, and if you get really frustrated, play heavy on TF2 and kill some people to calm yourself down.
March 27, 2008 at 2:19 pm
This is why authors generally don’t read their own novels. And actually, I’m even harder on myself in TF2. I’ll be on tomorrow night, but I have to admit that shiny new PS3 sitting in my living room is kinda tempting… must. Resist. Evil…
March 27, 2008 at 2:59 pm
NO NO!!!!! NO!!!!! SAY YOUR KIDDING…SAY IT!!!!!!!!! Not a PS3…………no…….another one has fallen from our ranks…
March 27, 2008 at 5:28 pm
This is a sad day indeed.

I must have Soul Calibur- if it was on the PC, I probably wouldn’t have got a PS3. I love fighting games and platformers, and until the PC marker starts adopting the genre again, I need my fix.
March 27, 2008 at 6:42 pm
no! don’t do it! no consoles in our ranks! if you were a lesser being, we would kill you. but… you are havoc06, so we can’t do that.
March 27, 2008 at 8:33 pm
ITS ON 360!!!!!!!! There is no game other than MGS4 that isn’t on the 360, Search your feelings you know it to be true.
March 28, 2008 at 8:50 am
But wait a minute now, the 360 is still a console. Bob_The _Koopa would still kill me…
I thought Uncharted was a PS3 exclusive also…
March 28, 2008 at 10:42 am
I meant that isnt out
March 28, 2008 at 1:51 pm
Vagabond, who’s hosting the show this week?
March 28, 2008 at 4:23 pm
Uh… I haven’t thought about it. Whoever wants to host, I guess.
Also, I’m about 100 pages into your book… I really like it so far.
March 28, 2008 at 6:56 pm
By “really like,” you actually mean “secretly despise,” right? ‘Cause I’m kinda rereading it myself going “Shit.”
It’s not that I think it’s bad, it’s just that I can REALLY tell it was a book by a first-time novelist. “From a Darkness, Rising” is just infinitely superior in every way… gotta start somewhere though.
March 28, 2008 at 8:22 pm
post it then…
March 31, 2008 at 4:17 pm
You’re novel is great so far, Havoc. Keep up the good work!
March 31, 2008 at 5:47 pm
Thanks Nightwing- I do appreciate it. I’m editing and revising the hell out of the second book. Unfortunately, I have to rewrite the last 150 pages. I’m thinking (if you guys want) I can post “From a Darkness Rising” in 50 page segments here and there. Otherwise, it’ll be a 8 months before I’m done. I’m glad you guys pushed me to do this though, you all have sort of rekindled my writing spirit.
March 31, 2008 at 7:34 pm
Ya, no problem Havoc. That would be great to see more of your work. Sorry to rapidly change the subject, but when is the next podcast coming out?
March 31, 2008 at 8:41 pm
As soon as Vagabond is done editing it (my guess tommorow, but no promises). Apparently though I recorded at a real shitty quality. /sigh.
